Breast Ultrasound & Procedures

At MIC Women’s Imaging, we offer a broad range of diagnostic imaging procedures focused on women’s health. Our services are provided in a calm, private setting by trained professionals using modern imaging technology.

3D & 2D Mammography

Mammography is a low-dose X-ray imaging technique used to evaluate breast tissue. Both 2D and 3D mammography are available at MIC. 3D mammography (Tomosynthesis) provides cross-sectional images of the breast and may assist in evaluating dense breast tissue.

Breast Ultrasound & Breast MRI

These imaging methods are often used to supplement mammography.

  • Breast ultrasound uses sound waves to assess specific areas of concern in the breast

  • Breast MRI uses magnetic fields to produce detailed images and may be recommended in certain clinical scenarios based on your referring doctor’s guidance.

Ultrasound guided core needle biopsy

This minimally invasive procedure uses ultrasound to guide a needle to the area of concern. A spring-loaded device collects tissue samples, which are sent for pathology. Local anaesthesia is used for comfort.

Vacuum Assisted Breast Biopsy

A typeof image-guided biopsy that uses suction to collect multiple or larger samples in one session. This allows thorough tissue sampling
through a small incision. It can also be used to remove entire benign (not cancerous) lesions without surgery.

Cyst Aspiration

This is a minimally invasive procedure done to drain fluid from a lump in the breast. With the aid of ultrasound imaging, the radiologist will use a small needle to withdraw (aspirate) fluid from the breast cyst.

Marker Clip Insertion

Marker clip insertion is a minimally invasive procedure done by a radiologist in which a tiny metallic clip is placed in the breast using ultrasound guidance to ensure accurate placement within the previously identified area.

Magseed Localisation

A modern, wireless alternative to wire localisation. A tiny magnetic seed is placed before surgery, allowing accurate localisation of breast lesions without the need for wires on the day of surgery.
